Griselda Mussett
I have been making a lot of new works over the summer during lockdown. Now I need more space so it seemed a good idea to display and sell earlier works, and my pop-up art show in the garden summerhouse is open today.
Viewings are by appointment only – each visitor gets a very Private View!
These works are clearly finding favour. It is so encouraging when people say they want to buy something, and we can discuss what appeals to them.
Three items sold in the first morning!
Most of the works in the show have been on my own walls and I love them. It was really interesting and instructive to me to see what had been holding my interest before this lockdown experience: themes of the Goddess, Harbours, Windows, landscapes, and still life studies of various kinds.
There are also some amusing little clay sculptures – air-dried so quite fragile – which are inspired by the extraordinary goddess figures found at neolithic sites all around Europe. These are both purposeful and funny.
This pop-up show is on till Sunday 27th September, and there will be a completely new show ready for you in November, with works made in the last few months.
